The Siemon Company, a leading global network infrastructure specialist, is pleased to be recognized as a top 2% 2021 Star Award winner in the categories of most engaged individual and most engaged company by the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading ANSI accredited standards development body for the ICT industry.
TIA recently launched the first-ever Star Awards to recognize the association’s most active individuals and companies for their contributions to the advancement of TIA and industry objectives and initiatives. Valerie Maguire, BSEE, Distinguished Engineer for Siemon, was recognized in the top 2% for the individual category. Valerie first joined Siemon in 1990 and has long been actively involved with TIA, holding leadership positions in the TIA TR-42 Telecommunications Cabling Systems Engineering Committee and TIA-TR-42.7 Copper Cabling Subcommittee for eight two-year terms, as well as appointed as the TR-42 liaison to IEEE 802.3 and electronic document coordinator for TR-42.7. Having served as chief editor of the IEEE 802.3cg standard that specifies 10 Mb/s operation and power delivery over a single pair of conductors and actively involved in the IEEE 802.3da 10 Mb/s Single-Pair Ethernet Multidrop Segments Enhancement Task Force, Valerie is also highly engaged with the Single-Pair Ethernet Consortium (SPEC) of TIA.
Valerie collaborates with other Siemon experts, including Dave Valentukonis, North American Technical Services Manager, and Brian Celella, Senior Electrical Engineer, to actively participate in the development and publication of dozens of ANSI/TIA telecommunications standards. As a result, Siemon was also recognized in the top 2% for the organization category of the TIA 2021 Star Awards.
To measure engagement among companies and their individual volunteers for the Star Awards, TIA instituted a new automated system that generates points for pre-defined activities and tracks totals for all contributing member companies and individuals who are active in and contribute to TIA initiatives.
